Classic and Volume Lash Extensions: What's the difference?

Classic Lashes

Classic lashes are for people who like a more natural enhancement look, they are applied on a 1.1 ratio which means one false lash extension is applied to one natural lash. Classic lashes are great if you have a lot of natural lashes and want to add more length and density to them.

Volume Lashes

Volume lashes are for people who like the more Glam look, they are applied in the same way as classic but 3 to 6 false lashes are applied to each individual natural lash, volume lashes are much lighter, fluffier and give a fuller look, volume lashes are actually lighter and thinner than classic lashes so this mean more than one lash can be applied without causing any damage to your natural lashes.

Volume lashes are great if you have sparse natural lashes, if you want a more volume look or you like having the strip lash look.

FAQs

How long do lash extensions last?

Lash extensions last around 6 weeks. They will gradually fall out as your natural eyelashes fall out during their growth cycle. With regular infills every 2-3 weeks, they can last indefinitely so you can always look your best.

Can anybody have lash extensions?

Your beauty technician will assess the condition of your natural eyelashes and make recommendations based on this assessment to avoid any damage to your natural lashes. They will make recommendations based on this assessment such as length and density to ensure that your extensions are not too heavy for your natural lashes to support.

People who are allergic to cyanoacrylate, a common ingredient in the glue used cannot have eyelash extensions.

People who are sensitive to chemicals are recommended to avoid having lash extensions.

If you suffer from any condition which prevents you from laying still, on your back for an extended period, it is not recommended you undergo the treatment.

If your natural lashes are in poor condition it is not recommended that you have lash extensions until they are in good condition.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on the density required and the number of extensions which need to be applied. During this time your eyes will need to remain closed. An ideal opportunity to unwind in the relaxing atmosphere of the Beauty Lounge treatment room. It’s an enjoyable process of pure luxury.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Please ensure that you are free of make-up. The beauty technician will cleanse your eyes prior to application to ensure that no oily residues are present, which may prevent the extensions from properly adhering but the less time they need to spend doing this, the more time they have to spend applying your extensions.

You will need to also remove contact lenses should you wear them.

Can I wear make-up?

Water based mascaras are available for lash extensions and you can wear make-up but care needs to be taken when applying and removing make-up to ensure oil based products do not come in to contact with the extension adhesive.

Can I remove them myself?

It is highly recommended that if you would like them removed that you get them removed professionally or allow them to fall out naturally.

After Care

  • Do not get the lashes wet for the first 24 hours
  • After the first day when the glue has been to bond to its fullest strength you will be able to shower and bathe as normal but try to avoid the shower hitting you directly on your lashes
  • Avoid swimming, steam rooms and saunas
  • Wash the lashes daily with a cleanser recommended by your beauty therapist or use diluted baby shampoo. Do not use side to side motion as like with rubbing your eyes, this could loosen the bonds of your extensions. Instead use a downward motion moving away from the eye. Squeeze excess water from lashes with thumb and forefinger
  • Regular washing is essential to ensure longevity of your extensions, as your skins natural oils can deteriorate the bonds just as oil based make-up and cleansing products can
  • Use a clean mascara brush to brush lashes in the morning where they may have become tangled in the night and after washing
  • Do not tug at your lash extensions or rub your eyes
  • If there is any adverse reaction to the adhesive used in the treatment, seek medical attention. Your lashes and glue will need to be removed if you are allergic. We use medical grade adhesive and a reaction to it is extremely rare
